"He is a real bale filler," was how longstanding client Ernie Constance, Peak View, described the top priced ram he and his wife Deb had just purchased during the on-property ram sale at Yarrawonga, Harden, conducted by Steve and Liz Phillips, and Don and Thea Phillips.
The Phillips' family penned 268 Poll Merino and Merino rams and were pleased to record an average of $4123 for the total clearance to a top price of $13,000.
"The sale was strong through the entire catalogue, and that is what I like to see," Steve Phillips said.
"It was just amazing to get that average, we really didn't expect to have a result like this."
Besides the top priced ram, three sold for $12,000 each while three sold for $10,000 each.
There was a lot of competition registered Elite Livestock Auctions with 117 lots bid on which was 43pc of the catalogue with 55 lots purchased which included Lot 1 for $10,000.
There were 100 viewers and 23 logged-on buyers from Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and NSW.
The sale was settled by Nutrien stud stock, Boorowa, with guest auctioneer Paul Dooley, Tamworth, taking bids.
