Interest in traditional fine and superfine wool Merino rams bred for the contemporary market was evident today at Royalla, Wallendbeen, when Winston and Sue McDonald offered 40 young Merino rams for auction.
A top price of $5200 was recorded with an average price of $2023 paid for the 38 sold.
The top price was paid by Michael and Paddy Lowe Innesvale Pastoral Co, Crookwell, who have achieved great success with the Royalla-bred rams, competing strongly in the annual ANZ Crookwell maiden ewe competition.
The second top priced ram at $4400 was bought by Dymock Ag, Boorowa, who purchased 11 rams to average $2054.
The Royalla-blood flock has also competed strongly in maiden ewe competitions taking place in the Boorowa district.
Nutrien, Boorowa, settled the sale with Tim Woodham wielding the gavel.
