MAROCARA Dorsets at Hillview, Wongarbon, cleared the entire draft of 160 performance rams to an average of $3221, during its 21st annual on-property sale on Tuesday last week.
In a testament to quality, more than 100 bidders from across all Australian states registered to bid in-person or online, with numerous buyers purchasing in volume.
Lot 158, tag 645, was the high-seller, purchased by Rob and Mary Sutherland of Spicers Creek for $3900.
Vendor Angus Kelly said the 14 month-old ram had excellent figures.
A twin-born son of 190117, he weighed 108 kilograms and was ranked in the top 20 per cent of the breed for both eye muscle and Terminal Carcase Production Index, and in the top 5pc for weaning weight and post-weaning weight.
With sky-high lamb prices and good seasonal conditions in many areas, Mr Kelly said there had been an impressive turnout to the sale.
"We knew it was going to be strong. We had lots of local support and many repeat buyers," he said.
Among the volume buyers was Andy Martin-Smith, Glenfinnan, Nimmitabel, who purchased 15 rams, Urungie Partnership, Coonamble, which purchased 10 rams and Jason O'Brien, O'Brien Agriculture, Wellington, who purchased eight rams.

Mr Martin-Smith said he'd been putting Marocara Dorset rams over his first-cross ewes for close to two decades.
"They are doing a great job with our sheep," he said. "The rams are very fertile and we're consistently marking between 160 and 170 per cent."
Selling agents were Carter Lindsay and Weber, Dubbo, with John Lindsay as the auctioneer.
