Excited interest in breeding stock continued unimpeded during today's 19th annual John Wells Memorial store sheep sale at Jerilderie where 16,477 station bred ewes, wethers and lambs with reputable genetic provenance were penned for sale.
Top price at the sale was $450 for the pen of 235 15-16 month ewes, June shorn and mulesed offered by NG and KC Morris, Ardlethan.
They had purchased the 15-16 month old ewes from Bertangles Partnership, Elginbah, Hay, but due to a change in plan for their farming operation penned the sheep for sale at Jerilderie.
Other good sales of Merino ewes included 211 not-station-mated (NSM) weighing 64kg, Caroonboon-blood and August-shorn sold by Innesvale Pastoral Co., Jerilderie, for $444: $426 for 365 NSM ewes, weighing 69kg, August-shorn and Willandra-blood for 40 years sold by Sleigh Pastoral Co., Jerilderie, and DD and AL Bull, Conargo, received $422 for their pen of 205 NSM ewes bred along Woodpark bloodlines for more than 50 years.
Among the pens of older ewes, 104 six and half year, Willandra-blood and August-shorn sold by the Wells family, Willandra, Jereilderie, made $268.
In the pens of wether lambs, $184 was paid for the pen of 209 Woodpark Poll-blood weighing 54.5kg and August-shorn offered by Riversdale, Jerilderie..
The annual sale was conducted by Elders, Jerilderie, with Nick Gray leading the bidding and was interface with AuctionsPlus.
