Kismet stud presented three solid drafts of White Suffolk, Poll Dorset and South Down/White Suffolk cross rams at its 38th annual on-property sale at Howlong, where a top of $3400 and average of $2301 was achieved.
With three breeds of meat sheep to choose from buyers had the choice of a prime lamb sire to suit the requirements of their individual enterprises.
Backed by Stockscan data, the July/August 2020-drop rams were ready to go to work and produce the next drop of heavy suckers.

The White Suffolk rams led the offering in sale order as well as numbers offered and demand, however the sale topper was matched on three occasions and not beaten by the Southdown White Suffolk Cross.
A full clearance of 70 Southdown/White Suffolk cross rams resulted in a top of $3400 and average of $2711.
Two of the top-priced Southdown/White Suffolk cross rams were bought by Peter Braybon, Finley.
The 106 White Suffolk rams offered were all sold to a top of $3300 for an average price of $2194, up from $1561 in 2020 which is a reflection of the strong lamb market.

Victorian-based Houston Pastoral Company, Burrowye, purchased the $3300 top-priced White Suffolk ram.
The Poll Dorset offering had 18 rams sell of 30 offered, with a top of $1600 and average of $1328 achieved. E Green from Elders Albury came away with the top-priced Poll Dorset ram.
Volume buyers on the day were Damien O'Keefe from Boorhsaman, Victoria, and Robert Wettenhall from Deniliquin, who bought 17 White Suffolk rams each.
