Angus Youth are pleased to announce, that in partnership with specialist farm insurer, Achmea Australia, ten young Angus Australia members have been selected to participate in the 2021 GenAngus Future Leaders Program.
The successful applicants for the 2021 GenAngus Program are:

- Edwina Hall, Memana, TAS

- Jasmine Green, Uranquinty, NSW
- Liam Mowbray, Bowman, NSW
- Rebecca George, Nevertire, NSW
- Tim Finger, Mansfield, Vic
The customised leadership program is aimed at supporting the development of young talent to help them to launch a new beef enterprise, or further develop an existing one.

Angus Australia breed development officer, Jake Phillips, looks forward to engaging this group of driven individuals and assisting them in advancing their personal and professional development over the course of the 12-month program.
"The calibre of applicants for the 2021 GenAngus Future Leaders Program have been outstanding. It was a difficult process to narrow the field, however the successful applicants submitted high-quality applications, which they should be very proud of. It is clear, the future of the Angus breed is in good hands with these young members coming through," Mr Phillips said.
After the postponement of the 2020 GenAngus Future Leaders Program due to COVID-19, the 2020 successful applicants will participate alongside the successful 2021 applicants.

The GenAngus Program workshop, which was scheduled to take place in person in Adelaide will now take place via online webinars from 2-4 November 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

"The GenAngus Program is shaping up to be a significant opportunity for attendees to network and gain knowledge from a diverse range of speakers from Australia. Each speaker will deliver presentations relevant to young agriculturalists trying to spread their wings in business and in life more generally," Mr Phillips said.
"It is going to be really exciting to think what ambitions this program might spark in the attendees."
Achmea Australia's national strategic alliance manager, Richard Officer, was involved in the selection process for this year's program and worked closely with Jake Phillips.

A vast array of experience and interests were considered in the selection process, and the successful applicants have a unique opportunity to be part of a growing network of peers across Australia," Mr Officer said.
"The purpose of the GenAngus Program is to support the next generation of beef industry leaders to help future-proof their businesses so that they can feed the world's growing population while navigating current and future challenges such as COVID-19 and ongoing catastrophic weather events.

"This year's program will focus on areas that are critical to achieving this, such as deepening financial knowledge, achieving a greater understanding of insurance and the importance of risk mitigation, the power of positive mindsets and marketing your beef brand in an-ever changing environment."
