An extraordinary yarding of 18,611 first-cross ewes at Yass averaged $323.43 for the annual summer sale conducted by SELX Associated Agents, and sold on a steady market.
With such a large offering of quality stock in very good order, buyers were circumspect and prices were firm rather than 'over-the-top'.
A feature of the sale was the dispersal of the flock on account Lyons Grazing, Yass, while a pen of 64 May/June 2020-drop, November-shorn ewes, by Retallack and Gleneith Border Leicester rams with 94 White Suffolk lambs sold for $535 on account Tolldale Management, Gunning.

In the pens of one and half year ewes, Matt Croker, Fullerton, sold 250 August-2020 drop October shorn ewes for $454; while M and R Hewitt, Gunning, sold 200 one and half year ewes for $428 and Kingsvale Pastoral Co., Binda, sold 150 one and half year ewes, October-shorn for $400.
MG, MM and BS Croker, Goulburn, sold 220 July/August 2020-drop, September-shorn ewes for $418 when bought by BA and ML Fahey, Boorowa; Lyons Grazing, Yass, received $405 for 156 June/July 20-frop, September-shorn ewes, by Normanhurst Super Borders from Yarrawonga-blood Merino ewes and Alan and Claire McCormack, Thuroona Pastoral Co., Gurrundah, sold 187 September 2020-drop and September shorn for $404.
The McCormack family, Walwa, Gurrundah, sold 156 September/October 2020 drop, September-shorn ewes for $404 and Johnson Park, Bookham, received $340 for their pen of 296 Jerradale Border Leicester sired September-shorn ewes.
Other significant sales of the one and half year ewes included 177 August/September drop, October-shorn ewes sold on account JR Bell, Goulburn, for $370; 121 August/September drop October-shorn ewes penned by AD and DT McGaw, Laggan, sold for $420 and Tolldale Management, Gunning, received $435 for their pen of 63 April/May drop, November-shorn ewes.
In the pens of ewe lambs, Woodview Partnership, Coolamon, sold 173 January 2021 drop and November-shorn ewes for $262: Ray Baines, Gundaroo, sold 81 unshorn June/July drop lambs for $170 and Kawea Pastoral Co., Cowra, sold 82 April/May drop October-shorn ewes Sunbury and Kegra Border Leicester-blood for $254 and Patrick Kelly, Wiregrass Pastoral Co., Boorowa, received $290 for his top pen of May/June drop, October-shorn ewes sired by Normanhurst Super Borders.
The offering of 619 May/June, October-shorn ewes, Retallack-blood on account Tulla Park Pastoral Co., Yass, sold for $248.
Among the pens of older ewes, Lyons Grazing, Yass, sold 104 April/May 2019-drop by Normanhurst Super Borders from Yarrawonga-blood Merino ewes for $382.
Successful buyers attended from Moss Vale and Wagga Wagga, with strong competition from southern tablelands prime lamb producers.
