Boss Drover Bill Little and his team of ringers have taken in their stride all the challengers that mother nature has thrown while walking 2000 steers from Charters Towers to Moura over the past four months.
When the mob left Charters Towers in August the feed was good until Clermont then it got very dry and patchy.
After that, early summer storms from Emerald through to Rolleston provided a fresh pick and a run in the creeks and Comet River.
Due to safety reasons the mob walked through the fresh run in the Comet River downstream from the township of Rolleston, as there was not too many front fences along the main highway through the town.
The mob then crossed the Dawson River at Moura as the river reached its peaked with the water lapping the bridge.
Mr Little said he was disappointed in the overall maintenance and upkeep of the stock route. He said the lack of maintenance to the watering facilities made the job a lot tougher and they carted their own water in a water truck.
"The parthenium weed and other weeds are out of control and running rampant," he said.
The steers were delivered to the owners, Boss Trading of Taroom at the Moura Saleyards, after being clearing through the dipping protocol.
Photographers Trina Patterson of Rolleston and Relly Richards of Moura captured some magic moments of the drove and submitted them to Queensland Country Life.
