A popular Santa Gertrudis youth event has been cancelled due to COVID.
The 2022 Santa Gertrudis Breeders' Association of Australia national youth camp was due to be held in Warwick next week but was called off after organisers felt there was too much risk involved.
SGBAA general manager Chris Todd said they monitored the situation for a week before making the decision on December 31.
"It really came down to the uncertainty in regard to close contact," Mr Todd said.
"If we had 300 people at a camp and we were locked down for seven days if we got a case, we felt the risk wasn't worth it."

Last year, pressure was mounting to cancel the camp due to COVID, but with safety measures in place, the event went ahead.
This is only the third time the camp has been cancelled, with flooding and ticks stopping the event in previous years.
The camp draws participants from across Queensland as well as interstate, with people travelling from as far afield as South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.
The annual event provides young people with the opportunity to meet and interact with others their age who are interested in the cattle industry.
