All smiles at Wodonga weaner sale | Photos

Cattle producers had plenty to smile about during the third day of the annual Wodonga weaner sales on Friday.

THREE days of action packed selling was wrapped up on Friday as part of the annual new year Wodonga sales.

Across the sales a number of price records were broken and all vendors went home with much higher returns for their weaners than in past years.

Some vendors estimated their steers and heifers were at least $800 a head dearer than last year.

Generally, the cattle were heavier than recent years and the better seasonal conditions were a reflection of this trend.

Top priced weaners on Friday were black baldy steers weighing 418 kilograms that sold for $2570.

Hereford weaners reached a top of $2470 for 403kg steers.
