Summit Treasury takes out Limousin national supreme

A classy black bull with enough extra hindquarter to muscle out the rest of the line-up took senior and grand bull and then supreme exhibit at Thursday's Limousin National Show, held at Holbrook.

Summit Treasury R18, bred and exhibited by Hayden and Jasmine Green, Summit Livestock, Uranquinty, outclassed another of their own entries, the apricot Summit Light-Ice S14.

Judge, Glenn Trout, Dromana, Vic, said the bull won the day for supreme due to its extra softness, depth and carcase and whoever buys him at the sale should do pretty well.

The two-year-old polled bull weighed 830 kilograms, with a 37 centimetre scrotal circumference, with 10 and 6 millimetres of rump and rib fat, and a 133 square centimetre eye muscle area.

"It's a very proud moment to be standing out here among these bulls that are exhibiting everything you'd hope to see," Mr Trout said of the champion bull line-up as he put forward Treasury as grand.

But he said Treasury's "extra bit of muscling in the hind end, and extra power and weight and performance" made the bull a standout.

The bull's breeder, Mr Green, said this was both the bull and the heifer's first show.

Treasuer's dam, Summit Meadowgrass 2149 H39, had Wulfs breeding on both sides of her pedigree and had been the supreme Limousin exhibit at the 2017 Sydney Royal Show before then also going on to win champion of the world Limousin female in the same year - the only Australian Limousin cow to have done so.

Treasurer's sire, Cottage Lake Big Star, had also been a sire of multiple champions.

Summit's grand female, Light-Ice S14, was by homebred sire, Summit Custom-Made P11 and from Summit Light-Ice P112 and had a Royal Canberra Show interbreed champion as a grand dam.

She was described by Mr Trout said he admired the heifer for the way she represented the breed "for all the right reasons", including her softness, depth and muscling.

The senior female, Tanybryn Park Pheobe, from Tanybryn Park, Tanybryn, Vic, at just shy of four years old, was shown with an impressive heifer calf by Garren Park Lucien.

Pheobe was by TMF Redwood and from Tanybryn Park Miss Muffet and Mr Trout said he appreciated the depth and volume of the cow, as well as her carcase characteristics.

The junior champion bull, Raydon Park Ranger, exhibited by Raydon Park, Mulloon, was a also a black, polled bull.

At 19 months he weighed 810kg, with a 133sq cm EMA, 15mm and 9mm rump and rib fat and a 36cm scrotal circumference.

Ranger was by Auto Dollar General 122R and was from Birubi Red Satan k160.

Reserve junior bull was Morrisvale Slightly Single, 15 months, by RPY Paynes Cracker 17E and from Morrisvale Eternal Flame.

He weighed 582kg with a 107sq cm EMA, 7mm and 5mm of rump and rib fat and a 38cm scrotal circumference.

Reserve to Treasurer in the senior bulls was Balamara Rare Gemstone, Balamara, Brazier, WA, a 27-month-old bull that weighed 910kg, with a 35cm scrotal circumference, 18mm and 9mm of rump and rib fat, and a 141 sq cm EMA.

He was by Wulfs Zane X238Z and from Warrigal Gem Stone.

Reserve junior female, also from Raydon Park, was Raydon Park Roxie, 19 months, also by Auto Dollar General 122R and from Raydon Park Malia.

Reserve senior female was Goldstein Park Real Harmony, exhibited by Goldstein Park, Cobargo.

She was by Summit Blueprint M20 and Goldstein Park Lolla.

Only two senior female exhibits were entered.
