A quality line-up of Hereford and Poll Hereford bulls will be on offer in the 57th Herefords Australia National Show and Sale at Wodonga.
The event is back to its traditional two-day format, with the show to be run on Wednesday, May 11, and the open cry sale on Thursday, May 12.
Sale committee chairman Alvio Trovatello said organisers were pleased to be running the event as normal after the COVID-19 pandemic forced changes to the two previous years.
In the 2022 sale catalogue are 130 bulls from 44 vendors, coming from four states - NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.
"From all report, we've got a good number of bulls, and they're quality bulls," Mr Trovatello said.
"We've got a few new studs but also a few studs that haven't sold at Wodonga for a few years.
"The Wodonga national is a great opportunity to see what studs are doing, what they're trying to achieve, and to see where the breed is going as well."
Mr Trovatello described the multi-vendor sale as a supermarket for bull buyers, with something for commercial and stud producers.
"We've had stud sires that have broken records over the past few years but there are always some affordable bulls, so commercial buyers will be able to secure genetics that are will suit their operation.
"Wodonga is a good opportunity for smaller studs to get their bulls recognised at a national level - many of the bigger studs started there years ago."
The southern national also achieved a record average of $14,775, and 71 of 84 bulls sold for an 85 per cent clearance.
Mr Trovatello said he was also looking forward to the social side of the event, with drinks on the Tuesday night prior to the show, and a dinner on the Wednesday night which includes the Herefords Youth auction and an awards presentation.
As always, all entries must exhibit in the show prior to the sale, with Queensland stud breeder Steven Reid, Talbalba Herefords, Milmerran judging this year.
"All sale bulls have to go through the show ring before being sold," Mr Trovatello said.
"Steven runs his own stud and fairly well recognised in the breed.
"He knows his cattle, and he's also bought bulls from Wodonga in the past."
Buyers will have access to judging results prior to the sale starting at 9am on May 12, and bidding can be done in person or online via AuctionsPlus.
