Jackungah Speckle Park stud attracts bids from a broad field of buyers

It was a 12-month-old female late in the heifer offering that took the top-priced title of the sale in Jackungah HS E11 Codiak Pink S21, secured for $40,000 by Pemberton Speckle Parks, Glenquarry, NSW.

S21 was a daughter of Champagne Codiak Pink sired by Mainstream Eldorado and a class winner at the recent Canberra and Sydney royal shows.

"We think she is a very good heifer, and we really like her genetics which will bring in a new genetic line to our herd," Taleah Bell, Pemberton Speckle Parks, said.

"We first saw this heifer at Canberra and we followed her through to Sydney, and she has just kept getting better each time leading to sale night."

The second top-priced heifer was out of the pick of the embryo transfer heifers, being secured by new breeder Matt Cooney, Cann Valley Speckle Parks, Shepparton, for $28,000.

She was Jackungah Luos Secret R12, who was the recent junior champion heifer at the Sydney Royal Show last month, out of Glengarry Luo's Secret.

"I have been helping Jack as he has prepared the sale team this year at some shows and I just admired her for her thickness, stature and growth for age," Mr Cooney said.

"We were looking for something that had a lot of growth, and being that she did not test in calf allows us to grow our program quickly through ET programs."

The third top-priced heifer was a full sister to the top-priced lot - Jackungah E11 Codiak Pink S11 - purchased by JAD Speckle Park, Yeoval, NSW, for $27,000 through Elite Livestock Auctions.

Fourth top-priced heifer was Hanging Rock Hyacinth R17 who was sold through Elite Livestock Auctions for $25,000, to Pigeon Hills Speckle Park, Burnie, Tas.

Out of Hanging Rock Heather P01, who vendors Hanging Rock Speckle Park sold a flush for in last year's sale for $32,000.

The top-priced cow was Ewyn L27 Melissa Q19, by Ewyn Speckle Parks, a 3-in-1 unit sold to Northern Speckle Parks for $34,000.

In the bulls it was Jackungah Saddle Up S13 who secured the top price at $16,000 through Elite Livestock Auctions into Gippsland to an undisclosed buyer.

S13 was a March 2021-drop embryo from Canadian sire, Mt Bar Eddie The Eagle, out of the Mt Rankin Bambe female line.

He recorded in the top 20 per cent or better for birth weight, milk, gestation length and retail beef yield.

Second top-priced bull was Jackungah Royality R02, who was secured by return client the Davie family, Shepparton, for $15,000.

The pick of the T-drop calves sold for $25,000 to Anden Speckle Park, Willangie, through Mulchay Nelson.

Anden Speckle Parks also purchased the top-priced embryos, consigned by Ewyn Speckle Parks of Colgans Fraser CF 11F to Ewyn Sassafras P15, for $5500.

The flush of last year's top-priced heifer Jackungah Koda Q17, from Betts Cattle Co, sold to Pemberton Speckle Parks for $16,000.

Reflecting on the sale father and son team Jack and Sam Nelson were extremely proud of the result, and the work put together by all vendors in their offerings in the lead up to the sale.

"We look forward to continuing on offering our best to grow the breed further, and working with the purchasers in making their programs grow utilising our genetics," Sam said.
