Sri Lanka crisis has its roots in hastily implemented organic farming mandate

THE SRI Lankan government's decision last year to mandate organic farming has been cited by the expat Sri Lankan community and agricultural analysts as a key reason behind the current crisis in the island nation.

Gregor Heard is ACM's national grains industry reporter, based in Horsham, Victoria. He has a wealth of knowledge surrounding the cropping sector through his 15 years in the role.
