VENDOR expectations were exceeded by the complete clearance of 34 Angus bulls at Rosskin's annual on-property bull sale on behalf of Martin, Liz and Adam Walters exceeded vendor expectations.
The top price hit $9500 and the sale averaged $7282. Martin Walters said the average sale price was up on last year's average of $4600.
"It exceeded all expectations. We had a lot of repeat clients, and it was good to see new clients purchasing bulls," Mr Walters said.
Top priced bull, Rosskin Sitz Upward J60, was bought by repeat purchaser Brian and Shirley Callon, "Farringdon" Braidwood.
Mr and Mrs Callon have bought bulls at the annual Rosskin sale for the past ten years.
"They are good bulls and the cattle do well on our country," Mr Callon said.
"I liked this bull for his 200 day growth rate and milk.''
Mr Callon said the bull will be joined to especially selected cows from his 200 cow herd.
"Our weaners topped this year's blue riband Landmark sale in Braidwood at $990,'' he said.
"It is the best I've ever had.''
Other repeat clients were to the fore in lifting the sale average to $7282.
The Haylock family "Old Springfield" Cooma purchased three bulls to top $7750: Robert Hain, "Bernina" Adaminaby bought two bulls for average $7250 and the Scarlett family "Arynile" Berridale whose draft of two bulls topped at $8000.
John and Tracey Walters, "Kinross" Dalgety purchased one bull at $8000, Mark Cottle, "Kimo" Nimmitabel took home a young sire for $8250 and Trevor and Judy Thompson, Jindabyne added to their sire battery with a $8750 purchase.
Another repeat buyer Richard Telling, from Sale, Victoria purchased two bulls to top $9250.
New clients Kelvin Ingram, Bonang, Victoria selected two bulls at average $8250.
Other new purchaser's included Ian Wallace, "Ercildoune" Jindabyne who selected a young sire for $7000, and Jim Haylock, "Springfield" Cooma who paid $6000 for his choice.
The sale average featured 25 two-year bulls at $7250 and top of $9500, while the 6 yearling bulls averaged $6292 and topped at $9250.
The top priced bull, by Rennylea E11 was purchased by Peter Schumann, Bega.
The sale was conducted by Monaro Livestock & Property Pty Ltd with Will Dixon taking the bids.
"We were thrilled with the sale from start to finish," Mr Dixon said.
"And very pleased to see repeat buyers and local cattle producers secure good bulls."
