RENOWNED seedstock producers Gerald and Lynden Spry, of Spry's Shorthorns and Angus, sure made a splash in the Angus world today when their sale hit $30,000 for an Angus bull at the first Wagga Wagga on-property sale in which they offered Angus bulls.
The Sprys held their 51st Shorthorn sale at their property, "Ardlui", Wagga Wagga, in conjunction with their inaugural Spry's Angus sale.
Bidding rocketed to $30,000 for 21-month-old Angus bull Spry's Efficient, by Silveiras Conversion and from Coolana Nightingale, which was secured by Landmark Wagga agent Andrew Wishart on behalf of Indian Creek Pty Ltd, Tumut.
Shorthorn bulls were also in strong demand with long-term client of Spry's, Lyndall Bennett, Dromore Station, Wilcannia, paying the top price of $20,000 for Outback Spry's Star, by Spry's Prides Star and from Lachlan Francis.
In the breakdown, 11 Angus bulls sold for a top of $30,000 to average $7182 and 33 Shorthorn bulls sold for a top of $20,000 to average $6697.
In total 44 of 48 head sold to average $6669.
