THE body of a man has been found in the Murray River at Albury.
About 4pm yesterday (Thursday), a large number of people were swimming in the river, near Noreuil Park, when a man in the middle of the river appeared to be struggling, he then disappeared under the water.
Members of the public attempted to assist him, but he could not be located.
Officers from Albury Local Area Command, Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA), and State Emergency Services (SES) started a search.
About 10.35am today (Friday), VRA divers found the body of a man submerged in the water about 100 metres from he was last seen.
Police have formally identified the man as a 41-year-old from Albury.
The death of the man is not being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
