VARIETY children's charity car rally set off from Sydney’s Bass Hill yesterday, bound for Western Australia’s Broome some 8000 kilometres away.
More than 300 people left in 102 cars yesterday for the Dick Smith B to B Bash, trailed by a substantial entourage.

There’ll be 25 official vehicles, with a B-Double semi trailer, a six wing beech plane, a helicopter carrying a doctor, a NSW ambulance with two paramedics, a Royal Airforce paramedic and two mechanics.
The participants are hoping to match or even overtake last year’s net haul of $2.2 million raised for Variety, which supports sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

Variety runs Bash rallies across NSW and Australia each year, often donating in the schools and towns visited along the way.
For the B to Bash, Variety will hand out $86,000 worth of goods to the 15 different schools.
