A GROUP dedicated to promoting youth in agriculture have raised $12,000 for two rural charities.
The Young Aggies at Moree, with the Agricultural Societies Council (ASC) of NSW, hosted the Gold Rush Ball on Saturday.
They raised money for rural mental health and the ASC Scholarshop Fund.
The charity auction exceeded expectations, with about 200 people attending the ball.
Now the young aggies are set to give away more than $12,000 to the two charities.
Young Aggies group member, Fiona Norrie, said the night was a huge success.
"(At the ball) it was clear rural mental health was an issue that touched many lives in our community," she said.
"It's clear having RU OK? day as out charity played a big part in how successful the night was, as people wanted to raise money for such a good cause."
The Young Aggies group was formed last year to connect young people working in agricultural around the Moree district.
Miss Norrie said rural mental health was important to the community.
Guests dug deep for the charity, with a 2013 signed Wallabies jersey and a painting from local artist Ian reardon making over $1000.
Miss Norrie said combined the charity auction items collected over $500 and the raffle raised $2200.
"It showed a great community that can come together, even when the seasons ahead are uncertain," she said.
