BUYERS kept their hands in their pockets at the Narromine 57th annual spring first cross breeders sale today, with the threat of a looming El Nino at the forefront of their minds.

About 3600 ewes were penned, reaching a top price of $196/head.
Topping the sale was a line of 240 March 2015-drop ewes offered by Peter Barber, P.J. Barber and Sons, "Currawonga", Narromine.
The September-shorn ewes were sold to a local buyer, through Landmark Wilson Russ, Warren.
Anthony Tuck, Llanver Trust, "Llanver", Narromine yarded the best presented pen of the sale.
The February/March 2015-drop ewes were September-shorn and sold to Walcha buyer Angus Kirton, "Bilbrooke", who bought in partnership with wife Lisa and mum, Heather.
A further 800 ewes from the Mason family, "Spicer's Run", Spicer's Creek via Wellington were yarded, with the tops selling for $198/head.
The "Spicer's Run" draft averaged $176/head.
The sale was conducted by Landmark Wilson Russ, Warren and Christie and Hood, Dubbo on behalf of the Narromine First Cross Breeders Association.
