A RECRUITMENT campaign is set to take place across Orange, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga in the coming fortnight in an effort to attract more female firefighters in ACT Fire and Rescue.
ACT Emergency Services Agency internal communications manager Kaylee Rutland said they were "running a targeted campaign to encourage women to consider a career as a firefighter".
The recruitment drive will be travelling to Dubbo on December 12, Orange on December 13 and Wagga Wagga on December 17.
She said their reason for targeting these areas was that some of the current female members of ACT Fire and Rescue hailed from rural NSW.
"We will be promoting benefits, and challenges, of a firefighting career; we want to give people an expectation of the job."
She said those interested in participating would need to register for the sessions.
