DAY ONE
STORIES
Wodonga all breeds sell to Queensland
SIX weeks ago Wodonga agents were quoting a quieter start to 2016 as many cattle had been sold early due to the poor season.
However, the first sale of the second week, which was an all breeds sale, opened to continuing strong competition for a market that exceeded the number advertised.
The independent agents offered 3953 head, which came from quite a broad area, and varied in age and quality.
Hereford steers take home best presented
A PEN of 24 Poll Hereford steers bred and presented for sale by Edmund Laffan, “Deloraine”, Victoria, won best pen of Hereford steers at the annual Blue Ribbon Weaner Sales in Wodonga.
The sash, sponsored by Herefords Australia, was judged by Nick McKimmie, livestock agent from Tallangatta, Victoria, who said they were the most even pen of calves offered among the selection of very good Hereford steers.
