INDIA’S Mahindra Group has made a foray into the harvester business, taking a 35 per cent stake in Finnish manufacturer Sampo Rosenlew.
The two companies will work in tandem to grow their harvester business globally.
Mahindra is the world’s leading tractor company by volume, with a presence in world markets including Australia, USA, China and Japan.
Mahindra said the deal will help grow a presence in the global harvester business.
Sampo Rosenlew manufactures mid-sized harvesters and has a joint venture in North Africa and significant business in Europe and Eurasia.
Sampo Rosenlew’s, Jali Prihti, said it was a natural step towards growing market share in Asia, Middle East and Africa.
“We aim to increase the manufacturing volumes in harvesters and components.”
Sampo Rosenlew will build a new range of harvesters for developing markets and specialty crops.
