LIMITED number of buyers were keen on younger ewes with nine-month-old first cross ewes topping at $168 while rising two-year-old Merino ewes sold to $140 a head during the Narromine special store sheep sale today.
The yarding of just 5000 head attracted strong competition for store lambs with prices continuing high, selling up to $99 for five and six month-old second cross wethers.
These came from an offering of 711 store lambs from the Noonan family “Kirribilli”, Nevertire, which averaged $90.38.
Noonan’s first cross ewe portion sold at $116 a head.
Top first cross ewe draft at $168 a head was 189 July/August 2015 drop and February shorn Super Boarder/Merino crosses from David and Janita Kinsey and team, “Carrigan”, Trangie.
Another pen of 195 head sold at $154.
Merino top selling pen of 174 June/July 2014 drop Merino ewes of Glenwood blood, July shorn, sold at $140 for breeders Sam Hamilton and family, “Ravenswood”, selling to Parkes district restocker, Pat Fitzpatrick.
These were in lamb to Border Leicester rams and due to lamb by end of June.
