The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) will be on hand at the Commonwealth Bank AgQuip field days to meet growers and provide the latest research and information for use in the paddock.
GRDC manager grower services, north Sharon O’Keeffe said over the three days of AgQuip, growers would have the chance to meet GRDC staff and panel members.
“The GRDC is in an exciting period of change, with new appointments, but also our new hub-and-spoke model, which places an even greater focus on us understanding grower priorities and concerns, so that we can continue directing resources into quality research to provide answers to local production challenges,” she said.
“Field days are an excellent way for us to tune into local conditions, problems or even potential solutions.
“It is the role of our panel and staff to feed that input back into our research space to ensure it remains relevant and useful.
“We will again team up with NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) for an exclusive winter and summer crop update breakfast meeting, which again is a great opportunity for discussion.”
The breakfast is complimentary and will run from 7.30am on Wednesday, August 17.
“The early start has been popular as it allows growers to get into AgQuip early, have breakfast and an update and be ready to explore AgQuip by 9am,” Ms O’Keeffe said.
“This key event during AgQuip extends the opportunity to hear the latest thinking from researchers, with presentations on key research occurring in the local area, and the chance to speak directly to those researchers.
“Topics are likely to include new chickpea varieties, Russian Wheat Aphid and other pests of concern to the winter and summer crop.”
Outgoing panel chairman James Clark will also introduce the new panel chairman John Minogue.
Australia’s biggest agricultural industry field day event, AgQuip is staged over three days in August in Gunnedah.
