- RELATED: Price increase – no bull
There is no doubt prices have lifted for Whiteface cattle and most livestock experts are saying their is a definite renewed interest in the breed.
Mike Wilson of Stud Stock and Bloodstock, Armidale, who bought 78 bulls for clients last week, said their is a belief in the market place that Whiteface cattle do better on grass than some of the other breeds.
Mr Settree agrees saying the Hereford breed, off grass, is hard to beat.
“Herefords are the breed that are recognised as the ‘kings of grass’,” Mr Settree said.
“It looks like a big part of the eastern seaboard throughout spring is going to have grass. The Herefords’ doing ability, weight for age and their feed conversion off grass, makes them a profitable option.”
