Michael and Jacqui Clarke, principals of recently acquired Koolewong Angus, Braidwood, used Ausmectin Southern Beef Week to connect and give back to the local community.
During their open day they sold stud cows, stud heifers, and commercial females, but what made them different was they gave committed to giving 10 per cent of their sales on the day to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation who are putting much needed equipment into the Braidwood Hospital.
“We are actually giving more than that because we committed up front anticipating where it might land,” Mrs Clarke said.
“We were conscious that we could do more to support the local community in Braidwood.
“Our sales history is in the broader area, so for us it was an opportunity to bring the Braidwood community to us, which I think is what is unique about the open day.
“It certainly makes sense for us to support it – it brings the community together.”
