Today much of eastern NSW will experience significant rainfall, the Bureau of Meteorology predicted.
The rain should begin to clear this evening, contracting to coastal areas.
There will be a chance of rain tomorrow in between Illawarra and the Hunter, said Bureau of Meteorology spokesman David Barlow.
He said inland areas should remain dry until Sunday, with a chance of some showers on Monday and Tuesday, but nothing substantial. Mr Barlow predicted falls of as much as 5mm, but little more.
“It will be cold across the inland on Thursday and Friday,” he said, with most inland areas experiencing overnight lows of one degree Celsius late in the week.
But on Saturday night temperatures will plunge again, with large swathes of the inland experiencing sub-zero temperatures.
He said after that, coming into the beginning of next week, temperatures would again begin to increase and most areas will remain dry.
