Strong local support at the seventh annual on-property Avonside Merino ram pushed the top-price to $4000. Simon and Kristina King offered 30 rams via the Helmsman auction system selling 27 for an average of $1496.
The top money of $4000 was paid by R Maguire and K Thompson for their Adaminaby enterprise. The Tara Park 3100 son measured 18.3-micron, with a standard deviation (SD) of 2.7, coefficient of variation (CV) of 14.8 per cent, and comfort factor (CF) of 99.9pc.
J.W. and M.W. Barry, Jindabyne, paid $3200 for a 18.7-micron Avonside 3013 son with a 3 SD, 16pc CV, and 99.7pc CF. The Barry’s also secured an additional two rams as they averaged $2600 on three rams including a 17.4-micron Tara Park 3100 son with 3.0 SD, 17.2pc CV and 99.6pc CF for $3000.
Volume buyers, G.W. and J Mackay, Dry Plains, put together five rams at an $1040 average with a top-price of $2500.
Letompe Partnership, “Letompe”, Ando, operated economically purchasing four rams to a top of $1000 and an average of $700.
Avonside principal Simon King said they were pleased with the offering and how they presented for sale considering seasonal conditions. “Great support from repeat clientele was shown with two new clients purchasing,” he said.
“The result gives us great enthusiasm to continue to grow sale with a 25pc larger offering increase average on last year by $120.”
The sale was conducted by Elders using the Helmsman system.
