Amazone has introduced a tractor-mounted 4200 litre seed and fertiliser hopper for use with its integrated range of cultivators and seed drills, significantly increasing their operational capacity and versatility.
Distributed in Australia by Claas Harvest Centre, product manager Craig Hopkins, said the aptly-named Xtender rear tank allowed operators to apply fertiliser and seed in large quantities.
The tank is manufactured using a ‘deep-drawn’ process that eliminates weld seams, thereby providing a constant and even flow of the fertiliser and the seed.
The pressurised tank is split into two equal-sized compartments, allowing the simultaneous application of seed and fertiliser or alternatively, two different types of seed or fertiliser.
Two electrically-driven metering units, which can be fitted with different metering cassettes to suit various seed and fertiliser types, allow precise variable rate application between two and 400 kilograms a hectare.
Amazone has also developed fertiliser tynes when the Xtender is used in combination with the Cenius TX and C-Mix 100, 80 or 40 shares.
“An adjustable delivery plate on the tyne allows fertiliser to be placed either near the soil surface, under the root zone or a mix of both,” Mr Hopkins said.
“The new C-Mix 40 share has been specifically designed to loosen soil at working depth of up to 30 centimetres.
“Compared with the popular C-Mix 80 share, it requires significantly less pulling power,” he said.
“The share is equipped with a hard metal insert at its tip, which reduces the longitudinal wear.
“This means the working depth of the share does not have to be adjusted over its working life.”
The Xtender unit is controlled using any Amazone or other ISOBUS-compatible terminal, which allows GPS guidance and section control technology to be utilised.
TwinTerminal 3.0 allows the easy calibration and emptying without leaving the cabin.
