Young and future farmers have been invited to attend a free Getting Started - Bank Ready workshop in Griffith on Thursday June 8 as part of a Young Farmer Business Program, an initiative of NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and NSW Farmers’ Association.
NSW DPI Young Farmer Business Program project officer, Mia Mackay, said the Bank Ready workshop delivers information young farmers can use to prepare to finance their agricultural businesses.
“This workshop will guide young people through the business barriers they may face in gaining finance and provide insights to better understand banks and their financial requirements,” Ms Mackay said.
“Whether they are financing a new business or expanding an existing agricultural enterprise, the workshop aims to help develop skills which young people can use to successfully deal with banks and financial institutions.”
Guest speaker, ANZ NSW agribusiness manager, Lucinda Hawkins, will discuss banking terms and language, how to make better financial decisions and how to develop a positive relationship with your bank.
In the last 12 months more than 240 young men and women have participated in the Young Farmer Business Program to develop financial skills and learn more about rural finance processes.
The workshop will be held at the Southside Griffith Leagues Club, from 6pm until 9pm, with a light supper on offer.
