For the fourth year, James and Nicki and Pat and Helen Pearce, Yavenvale Herefords, Adelong will open the gates of their property “Riverview”, Borambola on Monday 24 July during the southern Beef Week.
James Pearce said participation in southern Beef Week allows for a relaxed day of inspection and potential sale, adding an option for private sale bulls to their annual on-property sale.
“We are potentially attracting a different audience for our bulls,” he said.
“We have gained clients who have attended the Beef Week, and then returned to buy at our bull sale in February.”
On their property, which is accessed via the Sturt Highway east of Wagga Wagga, the Pearce family will be displaying 40 rising two-year-old bulls, including many homozygous polls.
“With the genetic depth of our stud herd, these bulls have top EBVs and indexes,” Mr Pearce said.
“The bulls will be for private sale, are reasonably priced and are a true selection across the drop.”
“We will be offering a range of bulls to suit commercial producers who are targeting a variety of markets,” he said.
“Bulls will also be available to satisfy the variety of breeding goals each individual producer is striving to reach.”
“There are lower birth weight bulls suitable for heifer joining and bulls to fit a cross-breeding program.”
The Yavenvale stud first introduced poll blood in 2002 and the herd has grown to number over 1000 registered poll females.
Yavenvale utilises Breedplan as a selection and management tool and all stud cattle have complete Breedplan figures, including analysis for growth and carcase data.
“We have a balanced performance program that focuses on superior milk, muscle, marbling and growth EBVs with phenotype and structural correctness completing the genetic package,” Mr Pearce said.
“Our sale bulls are from large management groups run under commercial conditions and are fit and ready to work.”
Longterm client, Matt Pattison, manager Rhyola Station, Moulamein said he likes the growth rates of the Yavenvale-bred progeny as well as their ability to handle his tough conditions.
