The Australian Stock Horse is the first horse breed to be the feature breed at the Australian National Field Days.
The Australian Stock Horse is renowned for its toughness, endurance, resilience and strength. The feature will showcase the vast industries both service, in visual, audio visual and practical demonstrations.
Feature exhibit subcommittee chairman Chris Solomon said it was the centrepiece of the Australian National Field Days.
“We are focused on the role of agriculture and its associated industries in order to highlight the importance of a vibrant primary industries sector to Australia, its economy and its well-being,” Mr Solomon said.
“The Australian National Field Days is proud to be in partnership with the Australian Stock Horse Society.
“Australian Stock Horses are used for general riding and stock work on rural properties, as well as equestrian competitions.
“With its versatility, the Australian Stock Horse achieves outstanding success in a wide variety of events including camp drafting, dressage, polo and polocrosse, eventing and pony club events.”
The Australian Stock Horse Society was established in 1971 in Scone, and has a membership of more than 9300 individuals and have more than 180,000 registered horses.
“We were honoured to receive the Australian National Field Days’ invitation to be the feature exhibitor at the 2017 event, as it provides an ideal setting to showcase Australia’s own iconic horse,” said Australian Stock Horse Society general manager David Gatwood.
“We look forward to sharing the wonderful heritage of the Australian Stock Horse.”
