Twynam Agricultural Group has announced it will sell three properties fronting the Lachlan River as the company continues to downsize its NSW pastoral holdings.
The company, led by chairman Johnny Kahlbetzer, is offering Jemalong Station and Jemalong Citrus at Forbes, and Merrowie at Hillston.
Expressions of interest close on March 12.
Jemalong Station, 35 kilometres west of Forbes, is 13,387 hectares with 2384ha developed for irrigation. It includes a 8885ML irrigation licence and 3107 megalitres of groundwater.
The 316ha Jemalong Citrus parcle of land adjoins Jemalong Station. It has access to 1000ML groundwater and a 750ML irrigation licence.
Jemalong Citrus has 170,000 orange trees, principally winter juicing varieties.
The other property being offered is 32,730ha Merrowie, 15km west of Hillston
It boasts 9906ha of developed irrigation with a 6689ML of General Security entitlement, as well as a 10,528ML groundwater licence and 16,000ML above-ground water storage.
The sale is being handled by Gary Johnston of Johnston Rural Group Forbes and Bruce Gunning of Ray White Rural International Sydney.
Twynam Agricultural Group was founded in the early 1970s by John Kahlbetzer (senior), and has built a property portfolio covering sheep, cattle, citrus, grain and cotton production.
In 2015 the company sold its 4000-head feedlot at The Mount.
The company has been selling property assets over the past decade and investing in agtech.
Last year the company entered a partnership with South African waste-to-nutrient pioneer, AgriProtein, to develop a Sydney Basin ‘fly farm’ to supply the burgeoning insect protein stockfeed industry for poultry, pigs, fish and pet food.
Twynham lists its currently portfolio of farming properties in the Riverina and the Southern Highlands at 50,000ha.
