On offer will be 94 registered Australian Stock Horses and Quarter Horses, with 48 mares and 46 geldings.
The most represented stallions in the catalogue include Hot As Hell – out of the National Cutting Horse Association’s top money earner in Australia, One Hellofa Spin – who has sired seven lots – 8, 56, 60, 63, 65, 87, 93 – and winner of more than 65 campdrafts, Binnia Impressive Destiny, who has five progeny – lots 36, 47, 57, 67, 73 – in the sale.
The 2012 NCHA futurity winner and 2013 Paradise Lagoons open draft winner Hard Hat Henry, Brown Victory, Kayderoyale Voodoo, Kirkbys Stud Theo, and Oaks Banjo, will each have three lots in this year’s sale.
Manilla-based breeders and trainers John and Jackie Farley, LoneStar Cutting Horses, will sell three two-year-old Quarter Horse fillies, including a full sister to their horses that made $16,500 and $11,500 in the two previous sales.
Miss Mario is a chestnut by CD Olena son CDs Just Awesome and from Playboy Roy granddaughter Docs Crystal Rose; and CDs Just Peachy, also by CDs Just Awesome, is out of One Stylish Pepto mare One Genuine Pep, who also has Playboy Roy on her dam side. Kayderoyale Genie is by Kayderoyale Voodoo, an Acres Destiny son, and from Kayderoyale Cassie Oak, one of the last Docs Freckles Oak mares ever born.
The Farleys have been involved in the Epic sale since it began, and will see their previous sale horses compete with the running of two Epic drafts.
“This year will be great because all the progeny we’ve sold in the past two years will be drafting,” Mr Farley said
“It’s great because we get to breed them, train them and sell them, then come back and watch them compete.”
Mr Farley will also compete in the open draft with stallion Kayderoyale Voodoo.
The campdraft action begins on Friday, starting with the 2017 Epic draft, which was called off last year due to wet weather.
The first two rounds of the 2018 Epic draft are also on Friday, along with the open draft, and the open draft final is held on Saturday, along with the 2017 Epic campdraft final.
Up for grabs is $35,000 in prize money and three saddles, with the winners of the Epic and open drafts each receiving a $6000 Roohide fender saddle. The purchaser of the highest priced horse in the sale will also receive a fender saddle worth $3500, donated by Shadow Trailers.
The event also includes a working dog sale, with demonstrations on Friday and the sale on Saturday at 4pm.
