Kicking off the conference, Kari Moffat, Darwin, spoke of her journey from equine studies to export cattle ships to becoming the sustainability manager of a large agriculture investment company.
Fellow guest speaker Kelly Johnson outlined the growth of her food waste dehydration business Woodlane Orchard at Myponga and new lightweight food venture SPhiker.
Former shearer and Australian Wool Innovation consultant Lachlan West, Hobart, highlighted some of the meaningful careers in the wool industry and how to get students involved early, including through the Merino Wether Challenge.
More than 80 teachers, trainers and other allied professionals will attend the conference during the next three days, which also includes presentations and workshops from industry leaders, trade stalls and tours of local, innovative agricultural businesses.
