DENMAN stud Tractor Charolais cleaned up at Maitland Show, with 10-month-old heifer Glenlea Choral taking out supreme beef exhibit.
The heifer, exhibited by Travis and Sara Worth, received the Allan and Joan Ball memorial trophy.
Judges Chad Willamson, Chadwick Shorthorns, Guyra, and Rob Maxwell, Willow Tree, chose the heifer over junior champion bull Tractor Larceny, Tractor Charolais; senior champion bull Hunter Lakes Lancelot, Hunter Lakes Poll Herefords, Millfield; and champion cow and calf Leven Ophelia K100 and her bull calf Mustang M109, exhibited by Paul and Lyn Richards, Leven Santa Gertudis stud, Rouchel.
Heat made a big impact on the cattle section, with only 40 head shown.
The junior judging was won by Caitlin Porter, Merriwa, while the teams competition was won by Scone Grammar School primary students.
Clare Richardson, Gresford, was the champion parader and the steer competition was won by 609-kilogram steer Sheraton Skippy, exhibited by Brisbane Waters Secondary College.
Millers Forest horsewoman Miranda O’Brien was named Maitland Showgirl on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old equine science student is a regular competitor in the show ring and has strong ties to the event, with her great-grandfather Harold Willard being a ringmaster at the show for many years. Her grandfather, Kevin Lawrence, was on the show committee.
In the poultry section, show director Brod Vallance had the bird of show with his bantam hen.
Laser Encore, owned by Melissa Oven and ridden by GGeorgia Dalley, Scone, was the supreme hack of the show.
