Much of NSW is in for a scorcher this weekend is the temperatures hit the mid-40s as far out as Bourke, and as close to Sydney as Penrith.
The NSW Rural Fire Service is warning fire dangers are also likely to rise, and people should keep an eye on the fire danger in their local area.
The Upper Western forecast district is going to take the brunt of the heat with Bourke and Tibooburra looking at five days over 40 degrees Celsius from Friday. Today Bourke will be 37 and sunny before the temperature climbs to 41 on Friday, increasing to 43 on Saturday where it will remain for Sunday and Monday before dripping slightly back to 41 on Tuesday.
Tibooburra is in for the same run of temperatures over 40, but will hit a high of 44 on Saturday before sitting at 42 for Sunday and Monday.
In the Lower Western Broken Hill will have just one day over 40 – Saturday at a hot 43, with Friday close at a forecast 39. Sunday and Monday will be 37 with Tuesday forecast to hit 35.
In the North West Slopes and Plains temperatures will be in the high 30s from today onwards with Tamworth looking at 37 on Friday, 38 on Saturday, 41 on Sunday and Monday and 38 on Tuesday. Moree will hit 40 on Sunday and climb a degree on Monday before dropping to 40 again on Tuesday.
Dubbo on the Central West Slopes and Plains won’t reach 40 til Saturday, where it will stay for three days. Today will be 34, before a hot and sunny Friday brings 38. Saturday will climb to 40, Sunday 42 and Monday 41, before Tuesday drops to a hot 37.
The Riverina is also in for some of the 40 degree days from Saturday with Griffith forecast to hit 42 on Saturday before dropping to 40 on Sunday. Friday, Monday and Tuesday will also remain hot in the high 30s.
Wagga Wagga will hit 41 on Saturday and 40 on Sunday, with Friday, Monday and Tuesday will forecast to be 35, possible showers are forecast from Sunday.
In the Central Tablelands it will be cooler with temperatures in the mid-to-high 30s forecast for Orange, Bathurst. Only Mudgee will hit the 40 mark, on Sunday.
On the Southern Tablelands it will be a similar story with a high of 39 forecast for Yass on Sunday and the rest of the week sitting in the 30s.
Armidale on the Northern Tablelands will reach a top of 34 on Sunday, with the rest of the week sitting in the low-to-mid 30s.
The Northern Rivers will be cooler in the low 30s, while the Mid North Coast is looking at temperatures in the high 20s, the South Coast will also be in the high 20s, expect Saturday which will hit 32 at Bega.
The Illawarra will reach 36 on Sunday at Nowra, Canberra will hit a top of 37 on Sunday, and Sydney will reach 37 while western Sydney is looking set to rival its western NSW cousins with a top of 45 predicted.
