Keen interest in quality Dohne rams saw a total clearance at the second Southern Production ram sale on behalf of Margie, Sandy and Georgie Pye, who offered rams bred in their Calga and Uardry Dohne studs, on "Caroonboon Station", Wanganella.
It was the first on-property offering of their rams: last year's production sale was held in Swan Hill and the offering of 70 rams saw a top price at $7000, and an overall average of $1390.
Speaking after the sale, Sandy Pye said his family appreciated the support shown throughout the sale.
"There was overwhelming support for our first on-property sale," Mr Pye said.
Top price was paid by Bruce Barnes-Webb, DD Dohnes, Moama, for his selection bred in the Calga stud.
With index figures of 148.16, PWT 6.28 and PFAT 0.07, he attracted the eye of Mr Barnes-Webb for his length and depth and overall balance.
"He was the outstanding ram in the sale," Mr Barnes-Webb said.
"He was the highest indexing ram with good eye muscle, excellent white wool and great conformation to boot.
"And he also stands well on his feet."
The sale was settled by Landmark Studstock, Albury, with Peter Godbolt and Ron Rutledge, Elders Studstock sharing the auctioneering.
