FACING another tough selling season for bull breeders, Wattletop Angus, Guyra, defeated the odds to sell 94 bulls from the 107 offered to a top of $12,000 and $4872 average.

In a solid sale, 85 of the 87 two-year-olds offered sold to an average of $5200.
Twenty yearling bulls were included in the offering, selling 15 to a top of $7000 and $4033 average.
The top-priced bull, two-year-old Wattletop Nadal H99 (AI) was knocked down to Baroona Investments through Landmark Boultons, Walcha.
From Wattletop Usual E256 and one of nine sons of Lawsons Nadal E398 (AI) offered in the sale, the twenty-four-month old bull weighed 896 kilograms and had a scrotal circumference of 40 centimetres.
Positive for its eye muscle area (EMA) and intramuscular fat (IMF) figures, the bull also had estimated breeding figures (EBVs) of +4.5 for birthweight, +50 for 200-day weight, +85 for 400-day weight and +108 for 600-day weight.
The second top price on the day was $10,000 purchased by Forster and Sons “Abington”, Uralla.
Principal of Wattletop, Lock Rogers, said he was thrilled with the result of the sale especially considering what has been a trying season.
