The North West NSW town will host one of Australia's largest solar energy projects, a multi-million dollar 70 megawatt solar farm.
The company behind the development, Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, confirmed the project would be financed with a grant of
$101.7 million from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and a loan of $47 million from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.
The $164 million farm will be built 10 kilometres south of the town and will be the first large-scale solar plant in Australia to use a single-axis horizontal tracking system.
