Enjoying a long held reputation as one of the premier meets for racing enthusiasts, fashionistas and those who love a great social day out, the Moree Picnics has a broad appeal for young and old.
This year the event will be held on Saturday, May 24, at the Moree Racetrack.
Moree Picnic Race Club president Tim Poole said there had been good interest from race horse owners and trainers, with strong prizemoney, a $1000 trainer's bonus and the premier race, the B and W Rural Boolooroo Cup worth $4500, providing added incentive.
There are also plenty of incentives off the track, including a marquee luncheon, a fashions on the field competition and a trackside evening dinner dance.
"The day is renowned as one of the best on the North West social calendar, it's a great opportunity to dress up, relax and kick up your heels," Tim said.
"It's very special that we're able to maintain traditions such as the picnic luncheon and dinner dance, which are now being enjoyed by the younger generations and are as popular as ever."
Tim said the post racing trackside dinner dance this year included entertainment by internationally acclaimed Lisa Hunt's Forever Soul, with dinner catered by Narrabri's Relish.
And for those looking for love, cupid has traditionally worked overtime at the dance.
"Many a couple have met at the Moree Picnics Dinner Dance and it's certainly a night where many fun memories have been made, as well as the source of great entertainment and antics throughout the years" Tim said.
Tickets to the Moree Picnics are $50 for members and $60 for guests, which includes gate entry, picnic luncheon and the evening dinner dance.
Daytime only entry into the races is $15.
