Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner introduced the Central West Jobs Action Plan today, and said it would focus government assistance on business investment and infrastructure projects that had strong job creation potential for the region.
"Communities in the Central West region are facing significant economic structural adjustments and job losses, including those expected as a result of the closure of the Electrolux plant in Orange in 2016 and the downsizing by Simplot and closure of Downer EDI in Bathurst," Mr Stoner said.
"A multi-million dollar pool of funding will be made available through the NSW government's Regional Industries Investment Fund (RIIF) to support eligible Central West projects that deliver jobs outcomes and investment.
"This support is available immediately and NSW Trade and Investment is actively seeking expressions of interest from project proponents."
Orange MP Andrew Gee said the Action Plan addressed the urgency of creating more employment opportunities for the region's workers who faced retrenchment.
NSW Trade & Investment will also analyse the impact of the Government's Fresh Start Support Scheme (FSSS), which provides a $6000 payroll tax rebate to businesses that employ workers who have recently lost their jobs through large-scale restructures.
Businesses looking to benefit from the Action plan can contact their local NSW Trade and Investment regional development team, led by Greg Beileiter in Orange, to discuss projects that will support business and jobs growth in the Central West.
