AN EVEN fall across most microns for the week led the market backwards again.

Even so, Wooltrade recorded some activity for the well specified 19.5- to 20.5-Merino fleece wool with 40 Newtons per kilotex (Nkt) of strength or better being the most sought after on the system.
Some order filling was taking place on Friday and Monday as buyers looked on the system for the odd bale to complete an order.
However, most prices of listed wool are understandably above market as growers resist the current levels.
It's also difficult to take 20 to 30 cents a kilogram off your price every week and most growers seem happy to wait this out.
The passed-in rate in the physical auction also reflects this with about 20 per cent of wool not meeting the market.
It's not all bad news though.
Those interested in our superfine sales will be pleased to hear another week of a few important sales on the system.
Our top price goes to the farm brand ACAIRE/ARMIDALE and offered by Australian Wool Network.
This best style Australian superfine fleece lot measured 14.3 microns, 2pc vegetable matter (VM), 74.9pc yield, 72 millimetres and 32Nkt.
This lot sold for 1936c/kg.
Two other lots at 14.5 and 14.7 microns sold with similar specifications branded NE&TP/SMR and MINDAI both offered by Elders made 1783c/kg and 1656c/kg respectively.
It's just a few bales that Wooltrade sold but very positive to see interest in the specialty elite fibres that are listed.
