Two New South Welshmen, Steve Mudford, Dubbo and Bob White, Conargo; and a Western Australian, Beau Guelfi, Kukerin, have set themselves the challenge to shear as many Parkdale Merino ewes as possible in eight hours.
And to record and judge the attempt, officials of the World Sheep Shearing Record Society will be on hand at the Mudford family’s Parkdale woolshed located some 36 kilometres north west of Dubbo on the Collie Road.
Organising committee spokeswoman, Kay Clark, Gulargambone, said it was hoped the attempt would attract a large crowd of well-wishers and supporters.
“We have an organising committee of 25 and hope at least 100 people will venture out as there will be plenty of room right in front of the action in the large 'Parkdale' woolshed,” she said.
Parkdale co-principal, Don Mudford, said the ewes would be in peak condition and weighing about 70 kilograms each.
