Frensham agriculture teacher Leonie Harris said the school, near Mittagong, had entered one steer in the school competition and the rest in the open purebred classes.
"The steers we have were mostly sourced by the girls off their own backs," Ms Harris said.
"The school steer we are entering is from Glen Trout's Birubi Limousin stud near Wagga Wagga."
Ms Harris said the steer came to the school through a student's family, who negotiated to obtain a steer from the same stud they bought a bull.
With students coming to the school from various locations across the State, Ms Harris said the steers were also from various locations such as Greenthorpe, Wagga, Gunnedah, Boggabilla and even Scone.
She said they have Charolais, Limousin, Angus, Poll Hereford, Simmental and Speckle Park steers at Frensham.
There will be 13 eager students accompanying the steers to Sydney Royal.
Ms Harris said most of the senior girls from Year 11 and 12 were more likely to be competing with the 11 steers.
"With the open purebred classes, we get to enter 10 steers," she said.
Ms Harris said hopefully they had not peaked too early following competing at all the local and surrounding shows.
"We won champion and reserve champion in the shows on the South Coast and Central Tablelands areas."
