One hundred and thirty three buyers from across NSW and Queensland registered to bid on the 94 horses catalogued.
In the break-up 31 mares sold to a top of $11,000 and averaged $5016; 28 geldings topped at $11,000 and averaged $4004, and one stallion sold for $6000 bringing the overall sale average to $5007.
The first to hit the $11,000 benchmark was Lot 18, Roanies Raffa, a bay roan gelding offered by Alan Sinclair, "Hillview", Bucca.
The rising seven year old sired by champion cutting horse winner One Roan Peptos and from Docs Hula Wagon, was purchased by Keith and Carol Williamson, Lower Tenthill, Queensland.
Mr Williamson was sold on the gelding after he worked cattle well in the pre-works.
"This horse can really get back over his hocks and work a beast," he said.
The retired lucerne farmer, only recently took up the sport of campdrafting at the age of 64 with no prior experience riding horses and was chasing a couple of horses to fill his truck.
The Williamsons also secured an entry from Jim Lyon, Tamworth, One Stylish Acre, for $12,000 after it was passed in during the sale for $9500.
Mr Williamson now has four horses to campaign and is looking forward to competing throughout Qld and NSW.
Second to hit the $11,000 price tag was Wade McKinnon, "Thulby", Bundarra, and his entry, Clovelly Karma.
The Peterbar One Moore Oak-sired rising 10-year-old buckskin mare was purchased by Tony and Suzie Farrell, Fernleigh, as an all-round horse for the whole family.
The Farrell's six year old son, Elliott, particularly liked the colour of the mare but it was the ability to breed from her down the track which secured the buy for the coastal based family.
Burrendah Hellrazor, an Acres Destiny-sired stallion offered by Danny Brown, Dundee, topped the stallion lots at $6000.
Grafton local, Rachael Paul purchased the bay five year old.
Horses purchased out of the Grafton Select Sale can return next year to compete for a total prize pool of $16,000 in the Grafton Select Campdraft, with a bonus for horses under five years of age.
Organising and settling agents Ray Donovan Stock and Station Agents, Grafton were pleased with the results.
Principal agent Ray Donovan said the inquiry on passed-in lots had seen a number sell outside the ring.
