After the Limousin judging one year, they made their way to see the All Breeds sale in action, and decided they would sell at the following year's sale.
It was a good decision, given their bull Jaward Fine Black Ice was the top-selling bull at $5500 in the 2011 sale, and not far behind the top-selling female which made $6500.
This year, James and Wayne are returning to both the show and sale ring and will offer two bulls in the sale: a brother and a half-brother to Jaward Fine Black Ice.
James and Wayne are pictured with Jaward Harold, the full brother to Fine Black Ice, the son of Oakvale Clown.
At the 2011 sale, Fine Black Ice was purchased by Art Brown, Lyndale Limousin stud, Bulahdelah, but he had competition from a Victorian underbidder.
The brothers hope for good competition again at the sale this year.
Wayne said Harold was "a well-muscled bull with good length of body".
Like his father, he said, Harold would produce good steers.
The progeny of Oakvale Clown continue to be shown as part of the Sydney Royal purebred steer competition.
Jaward Limousins provide steers to schools including Gosford High School, Hurlstone Agricultural High School at Glenfield and Bede Polding College, South Windsor.
Aside from showing at Sydney Royal, Jaward participate in the local show circuit including Berry, Camden, Hawkesbury and at Castle Hill Show this weekend.
Wayne Davis said the sale was always a good opportunity to sell, especially given Limousin judging was usually on the same day.
"We can pretty much go straight from the show ring and on to the sale," Mr Davis said.
