The top pen of weaner steers was sold by Russell's Chickens, "Bru-bri", at Manilla and were bought by Scott Simshauser, Landmark Tamworth.
Mr Simshauser said he had bought these cattle for clients further to the west who had received some decent rain.
Generally, he said the overall sale result was positive.
"It was definitely a dearer sale and there was a good quality offering, especially given the dry conditions, and the cattle held up quite well," Mr Simshauser said.
In addition to the top pen of weaner steers, a pen of Charolais cross steers from "Brubri" had sold for $500.
The sale was conducted by the Tamworth Saleyards Selling Agents' Association.
