Di Gill, a rural mental health consultant for the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, said it's the constant pressure of running a farm that takes its toll.
With financial pressures weighing down on farmers, adverse mental health issues often follow.
Mrs Gill, who works in the western NSW area, said the most important strategy to tackle mental health problems was staying connected.
"Whether it's staying connected to a football club or the friend over the fence," she said.
Mrs Gill will be at a drought support and advice day organised by Local Land Services at Coonamble on February 14.
"Physical property conditions and stock health are in the forefront of many people's minds.
The most important equipment on your farm is you and your family," she said.
